Irene's Background
Originally from London, England, Irene has lived in Minnesota for 28 years. She brings both a broad global perspective and a deep familiarity with the communities she serves here in the Twin Cities.
Irene holds a Master of Arts degree in Adlerian Counseling and Psychotherapy, and has worked as a psychotherapist for 25 years. She has had the honour of accompanying people through some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, witnessing their courage, resilience, and growth.
Irene's Approach
Irene's work is grounded in Adlerian theory, a humanistic approach, which sees people not as collections of symptoms, but as whole individuals, shaped by their relationships, their stories, and their sense of belonging in the world. She believes that meaningful change happens in the context of a trusting, collaborative, partnership. This is exactly what she strives to create with every client she sees.
Irene works collaboratively, and at the client's pace. Her role is to listen deeply, reflect honestly, and walk alongside the client. She draws on Adlerian principles: exploring early life experiences, patterns of
thinking, and the social and relational contexts which shape how we see ourselves and others.
Irene has worked with adolescents and adults across all life stages. She has had the privilege of serving a diverse range of people, from many different backgrounds, circumstances, and walks of life. She has extensive experience with complex presentations, including, Borderline Personality Disorder, and other personality disorders. She approaches these with the attunement and patience they deserve. Irene's specialty areas include trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, alcohol and substance abuse, grief
and loss, and challenges related to relationships and family dynamics.
Irene is inclusive and affirming. She genuinely welcomes clients from all backgrounds, cultures, and faiths. For those who wish to integrate their Christian faith into the therapeutic process, Irene is experienced and
comfortable doing so, with care and respect.
